Job Description

The Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for working with the head coaches in developing and implementing sport specific training and conditioning programs for both in-season and out-of-season student-athletes. This position will require the instruction of academic courses throughout the day in Middle and Upper School. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for maintaining the facility, and for establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safety. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Athletic Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards Guidelines.
  • Work in collaboration with program head coaches on scheduling, development, and implementation of specific workout programs for all specific teams and individuals
  • Work in collaboration with Middle and Upper School Administration in the implementation of courses
  • Provide athletes with proper training techniques for free weights and other equipment
  • Be responsible for identifying equipment repairs, modifications and recommendations for purchases to maintain and improve all training facilities
  • Maintain up-to-date records on strength programs for each team and the specific individual workouts of every student-athlete while maintaining frequent communication with coaches as needed
  • Work in cooperation with the athletic trainers in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured student-athletes
  • Must have the ability to establish healthy professional relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and colleagues
  • Possess strong motivational and disciplinary abilities
  • The use of technology in instruction is an expectation as well as being able to provide a basic level of support to students in a BYOD environment. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in utilizing technology for administrative functions including, but not limited to, grading, attendance, resource sharing, and communications.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory duties assigned.  All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or Physical Education.
  • Weight training certification and a minimum of three years strength training preferred.
  • National Strength Coaches Association's CSCS certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association's SCCC certification (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification) or equivalency required.
