Activity Assistant – Balance Assisted Living and Memory Care, Lodi, CA

At Balance Assisted Living and Memory Care, we are dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents through meaningful connections and engaging activities. We are currently seeking a compassionate and energetic  Activity Assistant to support our Life Enrichment Director in planning and delivering dynamic programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being.

Position: Activity Assistant

Location: Lodi, CA

Department: Life Enrichment

Reports to: Life Enrichment Director

Schedule: Flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

Key Responsibilities:

✨ Resident Engagement:

  • Lead and assist with a variety of daily activities, including arts & crafts, games, exercise classes, music, and educational programs.
  • Encourage resident participation, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Offer one-on-one engagement for residents who prefer or require individual activities.

Activity Planning & Implementation:

  • Assist in developing and executing a monthly activity calendar tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
  • Set up, lead, and clean up after activities, ensuring safety and enjoyment for all participants.
  • Help coordinate special events and off-site outings.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Track resident participation and provide feedback to the Life Enrichment Director.
  • Report changes in residents’ behaviors or conditions to the wellness team.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with staff from all departments to organize community-wide events.
  • Assist in coordinating volunteers and interns who support activities.

Resource & Safety Management:

  • Maintain activity supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure all activities follow safety protocols and comply with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with seniors and enhancing their quality of life.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead group activities and connect with residents on a personal level.
  • Previous experience in activity planning, senior care, or recreational therapy is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Tuberculosis (TB) clearance as required by the State.
  • Clear criminal background and fingerprint check per state regulations.
  • LIC 503 Health Screening Report and LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of activity and occasional heavy lifting.
  • Ability to assist residents during activities and outings.
